Please come along to the meeting on Tuesday 11th October @7.30 pm in D002 in James France, especially if you want to come to Ausie Kiss XXX (see details here: http://www.studentwindsurfing.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=543:ausske-kiss-xxx&catid=100&Itemid=78) on the 22 – 23rd!! We want to try and get everything sorted and signed up on Tuesday evening! We’ve all been waiting months for another amazing SWA event and it’s finally round the corner!!!

Also at the meeting on Tuesday will be a chance for beginners to sign up to a taster session held on Wednesday afternoon, spaces will be limited so make sure you’re there!!

Also worth remembering Tuesdays meeting is for both Sailing and Windsurfing so if you’re interested in both  even more reason to come along!!

Stash looks amazing! (see photo below) get in touch with Jack at j.tompkins-10@student.lboro.ac.uk if you want one with your size etc! Again do it ASAP!!

Sorry to make everything sound hectic and urging you to do everything ASAP but I promise you once the rush of getting memberships sorted is over we’re a pretty relaxed club!! Can you name another sport where BUCS races are frequently run in fancy dress?

Anyhoo enough for now, any questions get in touch with me at tom@rivett.me.uk !!

Stay Classy

Windsurfing is an epic sport ideal for those who are too cool to sail. Loughborough Students Sailing and Windsurfing Club is one of dozens of uni clubs in the UK which are all linked by the Student Windsurf Association (SWA) which allows us to bring you a programme of events throughout the year at various top locations throughout the UK and meet new people.

We kick off the year almost straight away with the SWA’s own windsurf festival called Aussie Kiss, which takes place in Bude, Cornwall. For the very reasonable price you can expect to receive, “high” standard tuition from RYA certified instructors, attend clinics run by windsurfing legends, compete against others in all disciplines at all standards, trial brand new boards, and thats just the day. With two nights accomodation in a mobile home, and two epic parties raving with fancy dress, you can guarantee to have a great weekend. If you are thinking about taking up windsurfing this year AK is definitely recommended as your gateway to the windsurf world.

SWA Festival (Aussie Kiss 10): 22nd-23rd October 2011

After the festival, we run a series of events hosted at the big windsurfing universities throughout the year, for all of those who want to compete whether it be at Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced/Freestyle/Freestyle Classics (intermediate freestyle). In true style all events are accompanied by the standard Saturday Night fancy dress party with each uni bidding to out-do the last.

Events to look forward to:

Pondlife VII – (Nottingham) early Nov TBC
Bristol Wet Dream II – late Nov TBC
BUCS Nationals – late April TBC

The BUCS Nationals is the final event of the year and the one chance for all competitors to shine, when we compete for the all important BUCS points. Loughborough club may be small, but we are carving a name for ourselves against the windsurf giants and have taken medals at BUCS in the last three years, and we aim to keep adding to that medal count this year!!

Windsurfing is part of the club so all sailors are welcome to come and give it ago, equally windsurfers are always welcome to spend some time on a boat if you’re having a fragile day and don’t feel up to the challenge.
