Fleet

Our fleet is made up of six Fireflys, some Laser IIs and an Enterprise.

Fireflys
The main focus of university sailing is team racing and the Firefly is the boat most commonly used. The Firefly is a 12ft dinghy that has very good sailing characteristics; rolls well, good acceleration and turns quickly which makes it ideal for team racing but it is also a very nice sailing boat.
Laser IIs
The club owns four Laser IIs. These boats have spinnakers and trapezes and have a good racing ability which means they are sometimes used for team racing.

Enterprise
The Enterprise is a larger two man hiking dinghy. We use this classic boat for the Southport 24 hour race in September.
Picos
We also have access to six Picos which are used for novice training. These are easy to helm single handedly so are great to sail about in after you’ve got the basics.
