First of all welcome back to Loughborough, I hope you have all had a really good Christmas break. Over the next few weeks I’m sure a fair few of you have exams and coursework due, good luck with those. This is just a quick update on what’s happening in the club and a bit of housekeeping. We are going to try and run weekly sailing; however there may be times when it isn’t possible such as this week.

The committee have been listening to what you want for the club and, Ali and Emily have been working hard recently to put together a race training programme for the second semester. Hi All, I can now announce that this year’s RYA course for dinghy levels 1 and 2 will take place on 18th-20th February…a week after our exams finish. This is an intensive course with the aim to gain you RYA level 1 if you’re an absolute beginner or RYA level 2 if you’ve a little more experience.

The course will start on the evening of Friday 18th with a shore based session. Saturday and Sunday will both involve a mixture of sailing on the water and shore based sessions. This will be a RESIDENTIAL course so you need to bring your usual stuff when we go away for weekends (sleeping bags etc) and we will stop at a supermarket for food/dvds etc on Friday.

COST

The cost of the course will be about £65-£70. This is a huge saving on the usual cost of this course which can be £200+ in some places. … Continue Reading

Just a quick reminder that everyone needs to pay £4 (£2 for each day) for this weekend to cover drivers’ petrol money this weekend. Ali did send a facebook message on friday about bringing money but some of you may not have had a chance to read it, so please can you all bring £4 with you tomorrow and hand it either to myself or Emily. Those who gave Emily £2 today only need to bring £2 tomorrow.

STASH IS HERE!!!!!!

Social Shirts have arrived and look fantastic!! If you have ordered one then please come and collect them from the EHB tomorrow morning at 10am until 12:30pm! You can also pay the remaining £15 for the Christmas Meal if you are coming as well.

As stash has arrived in time for the event there will be a COMPULSARY theme for the FND this week…STASH SOCIAL!! So please come to JC’s at 9:15pm wearing them! Also please wear them over the weekend!! As you can tell I am incredibly excited!!

Hi Guys,

Well we are over half way in the first semester and Christmas is rapidly approaching. This year so far has seen record numbers for club intake and it really shows with regular turn outs to Wednesdays. We have already been to a couple of sailing events this year including the fleet racing in Plymouth (Keep an eye out for the December issue of the WOW magazine we should be in there!) and the Brummy Bender.

The windsurfers have been busy as well going to Aussie Kiss and the Nottingham event where they managed to secure a 1st and 3rd place in the intermediate category!

The next big thing coming up is our own event the Lufbra Lemming; if you haven’t heard about it by now there must be something wrong! Even if you can’t get to the lemming during the day the socials will be on in the evening Friday night … Continue Reading

As our Christmas Meal is on Tuesday 7th December and you will get inundated with emails about the event I thought I’d get in first!
Thank you to all those who have paid the deposit, should be a great night as there are lots of us! To make it easier on the evening I will be collecting the remaining £15 from everyone this week. I will be in the EHB (main area with the sofas) on:
MONDAY – 3-4PM
TUESDAY – 9-11AM and then
WEDNESDAY – HEY EWE
THURSDAY – LIBRARY FROM 11- 2PM
Also collecting over the weekend at our event. the deadline is SUNDAY 5th DECEMBER

Hi Guys,

Unfortunately its getting to that time of year again where its getting increasingly cold. From this point onwards until further notice wetsuits or drysuits must be worn or you will not be allowed to go sailing or windsurfing!

Also just a heads up for those sailing tomorrow please come prepared it will be cold!! Bring enough layers to keep you warm and a spare set! A hat is very important as well!! Bring plenty of food as well to keep the energy levels up.
