Welcome Meeting- 11th October, 7:30pm, Room D002

A welcome meeting is being held on Tuesday 11th October, at 7:30pm, in room D002 in James France Building (We will have people inside/outside the building directing you to the room). The meeting will involve a short presentation of what the coming year will bring and an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have before you join. At the last count, 34 of the 80 places were still available so if you are sure you want to join the club we suggest you do it sooner rather than later. RYA course – Levels 1 and 2

Hi All, I can now announce that this year’s RYA course for dinghy levels 1 and 2 will take place on 18^th-20^th February…a week after our exams finish. This is an intensive course with the aim to gain you RYA level 1 if you’re an absolute beginner or RYA level 2 if you’ve a little more experience.

The course will start on the evening of Friday 18th with a shore based session. Saturday and Sunday will both involve a mixture of sailing on the water and shore based sessions. This will be a RESIDENTIAL course so you need to bring your usual stuff when we go away for weekends (sleeping bags etc) and we will stop at a supermarket for food/dvds etc on Friday.

COST

The cost of the course will be about £65-£70. This is a huge saving on the usual cost of this course which can be £200+ in some places. This has gone up a little from last year because travel now costs more and Burton haven’t confirmed their fees yet.

ENROLING

To enter on this course please visit the club eshop on the Union website after logging in, www.lufbra.net/club/sail_wind/ and purchase the deposit of £50 (the button is after all the stash pictures), the remaining amount will be collected at a later date.

Quick note: The weekend of the 19th/20th Feb Sheffield Hallam are coming to team train with us at the lake. If you are wanting to train on this weekend it will not possible to participate in the sailing courses taking place. A sign up for training this weekend will go up shortly, but an email will be send out before hand. Please note that if you do not attend the training but instead opt to take the courses you will not be penalised for future events.

Queue Jump at 10pm!!

Hey everyone,

Just a quick email to let you know that there is queue jump for Hey Ewe sorted for us at 10pm. Not a big social this week as next week will be the main one (so keep wednesday 20th free!!) so no theme, just your usual Hey Ewe attire. Meet in JC’s at 9:45pm and we’ll all go into the union together.

Hello and welcome to Loughborough Students’ Sailing & Windsurfing Club. Signups to the club for the academic year 2010/11 open in October and this year there are 80 membership places available.
